John TAYLOR and Martha LLOYD were my 2x great grandparents. Martha was born at Haverfordwest and John was born at Uzmaston, just outside Haverfordwest. After the birth of their second child, John and Martha left Haverfordwest to start a new life in Victoria, Australia.
Martha Anne Lloyd
Martha Annie Lloyd, daughter of James and Dorothy LLOYD, was born on 2 September 1813, at Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales, to parents James and Dorothy LLOYD Her birth was registered at the Parish of Prendergast. Martha was baptised at the Parish of Prendergast, Haverfordwest, on 15 October 1815
John TAYLOR
John TAYLOR was born in February 1814, at Uzmaston, Pembrokeshire, Wales. His parents were John TAYLOR and Mary DAVIES. John Taylor’s father died when his son was five years old.
Marriage: John Taylor and Martha Lloyd
John TAYLOR and Martha LLOYD were married in Haverfordwest ON 25 August 1839. At the time of their marriage, Martha was 26 years old and John was aged 25 years.
They were married in the St. Thomas parish church at Haverfordwest. Witnesses to their wedding were George BEDDOE and Walter BARRINGTON.
At the time of their marriage, Martha LLOYD was employed as a servant at Hermon’s Hill Mansion, situated in Goat Street, Haverfordwest. John TAYLOR was employed at Sealyham Mansion, in the parish of St. Dogmaels, as a servant.
John and Martha had two sons who were born in Haverfordwest. James Lloyd TAYLOR was born on 2 October 1839, and John Lloyd TAYLOR was born on 7 September 1840.
After their marriage, John and Martha lived at City Road until the family left Wales for Australia.
