People of Haverfordwest: John Taylor and Mary Davies

This is the first in what will be a series of posts about the people of Haverfordwest. I thought I’d start with the people in my family tree.  John TAYLOR and Mary LLOYD were my 3x great grandparents.
John TAYLOR and Mary LLOYD
John TAYLOR Snr was born in about 1784. In 24 June 1804, he married Mary DAVIES at Slebech, just outside Haverfordwest. His occupation was given as agricultural labourer.
Mary DAVIES was born in 1788 at Pembrokeshire. I am assuming she was most probably born at Haverfordwest, but further research is needed, as I have evidence for her place of birth as yet.
The information I have found shows that they had three sons and two daughters:

  •  James born August1804 in Slebech, Pembrokeshire
  •  Ann born February 1806 in Slebech, Pembrokeshire
  •  Ann born September 1807 in Slebech Pembrokeshire
  • William born February 1811 in Slebech, Pembrokeshire
  •  John born February 1814 in Uzmaston, Pembrokeshire.  *my 2x great grandfather

John Taylor, Senior died in October 1879 and was buried on 17 October, 1819 at Slebech.

1841 Census

In the 1841 Census, which was taken on 06 June, Mary was of independent means living with a household at 11 Barn Street, Parish of St. Martin Haverfordwest.
Also there on the night were:

  •  George Morgan, age 25, Mason
  •  Elizabeth Morgan, age 30
  •  Mary Morgan, age 4
  •  George Morgan, age 3
  •  John Morgan age 3 months
  •  David Lloyd, age 40 M.S
  •  Mary Taylor, age 55, Independant

On 27 October 1841, Mary TAYLOR died at 11 Barn Street at the Parish of St. Martin, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

The informant on Mary’s death certificate was Margaret THOMAS of Barn Street, Parish of St. Martin, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
